Latino Ministry Caminando Juntos to Cease Operations May 29
The Caminando Juntos Board of Directors, upon prayer and reflection, has made the difficult decision to cease operations effective May 29, 2026. This includes cancelation of the 2026 Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.

The current philanthropic, economic, and political environment poses unique challenges to small not-for-profit organizations. In this environment it is difficult to offer quality services with limited income-generating programs.

This is especially true for those serving immigrants, like Caminando Juntos, which has “walked with” the Latino community in the Sioux Empire for 24 years.
Founded by the Presentation Sisters and now independent, Caminando Juntos has lived out the Gospel mandate to “welcome the stranger” for three decades.
The Board and staff extend their sincere thanks to the many volunteers and patrons who have supported this ministry, and aided countless families on their migrant journey.
As Caminando Juntos winds down its operations, it will continue to work with other organizations to advance programs aiding the Latino community.
